As most people who have ever been in debt know, struggling to make ends meet is not much fun.
Naturally, life can’t always be fun, but in addition to the obvious issues around paying the bills and feeding your family, the mounting debt among the people of Britain is also having a serious effect on our psychological wellbeing.
In a Citizens Advice Bureau survey of people experiencing debt problems, three out of four respondents said that their financial difficulties were affecting their mental health.
More than half of the participants said their money worries were causing conflicts with a partner, while a third of those surveyed said their relationship with their children had been aversely affected. Half of the participants also said that their work was suffering as a result of debt problems.
